Memorial to the miners who died in the 1901 and 1913 disasters
This memorial, located at the site of the Universal Colliery which was demolished, commemorates the 439 men who died in the explosion at Universal Colliery, Senghenydd, on October 14, 1913, and the 81 men who died in the earlier accident on May 24, 1901. The memorial was erected October 14, 1981 and stands approximately 25 feet high. Photograph by Simon Barnett
